Charity Canal Walk, 16 September: Bridgewater and Rochdale Canals

The Windmill Fundraising Campaign have organised two canal walks on Saturday 16 September 2017, to raise funds for the Neurosurgery Department at Salford Royal Hospital and for the Breast Care Specialists at the Christie Hospital.

Both walks will take in the five different boroughs of Greater Manchester (Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford and Wigan) ranked in the worst 20% of the UK for premature death from cancer, and will take in sections of the Bridgewater and Rochdale canals.

The first walk, which is 13.7 miles long, starts at 9.00am at Astley Green in Wigan (at the Old Boat House) and finishes at Castlefield, Manchester (Dukes 92 restaurant and bar). The second walk is 15 miles long and starts from the Castlefield Basin at 1.00pm finishing in Castleton in Rochdale.

People can take part in either one or both of the walks of their choice, and are encouraged to either collect sponsorship or send a donation via the campaign’s Just Giving page. Both routes have been planned out carefully to include lots of places along the way for refreshments.
