What we do

NHS Trafford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is responsible for buying healthcare services for the people of Trafford.

We are required to plan services based on the needs of our local population, secure services that meet those needs, and monitor the quality of care provided.

NHD Trafford CCG is responsible for commissioning:

  • Urgent and emergency care
  • Out of hours primary medical services
  • Elective hospital care
  • Community health services, such as speech and language therapy, rehabilitation services, continence services)
  • Maternity and newborn services
  • Children’s healthcare services
  • Services for people with learning disabilities
  • Mental health services
  • Infertility services
  • NHS continuing healthcare
  • Our budget comes from the Government

Primary care services such as GPs, pharmacies, dentists and opticians, and specialised services are commissioned by NHS England.

Public health

Local authorities are responsible for providing population health advice, information and expertise to CCGs to support them in commissioning health services that improve population health and reduce inequalities.

Trafford Council is responsible for physical activity, obesity programmes and nutrition, among other services.
